Rhonda and I took the kayak for a run through Jerra Wetlands this morning.  About 50m south of the northern hide (can’t remember its name) we surprised a bird sitting on the branch of a fallen willow.  It immediately took flight and dived straight into the reeds and disappeared.  The brief glimpse we both got was insufficient for a positive ID but given size, shape, colour and habitat we concluded a possible little bittern.
