Thanks to those people who gave me information about the weed on
Kelly's. My questions are answered
We were at Kelly's on Friday. There was a large flock of choughs
present digging for food near Cygnut hide. They seemed to be after a
small blue irridescent beetle that was not far under ground,
Sometimes they ate it whole. Other times they beat it to remove the
soft body. Young choughs were around, begging. I have not seen a
nest around there so I wonder where they all came from. The
juveniles were really young.
I believe that there are two spoonbill nests in the tree opposite
Cygnus. I have definitely see 3 birds there.
Directly above the spoonbills, a pair of magpie larks are nest
building. The nest is not visible as it is hidden by foliage. But
the two birds are flying, taking turns, from the tree to gather new
mud, from the edge of the water. They were very busy.
We saw 2 native hens and 1 black fronted dotterel
