I remember hearing the Lyrebird on Black Mountain but I don't remember a fire around that time, at least not a big one on Black M. It was on the west side and called for about a month. There are Lyrebirds along the Murrumbidgee south of Tharwa along Smiths Rd in Dry Sclerophyll forest that is no moister than it is near the Cotter R. I have also heard Lyrebirds calling on the ridge east of the Sutton Rd between Queanbeyan and Wamboin so I'm not surprised they are near the Bidgee below Shepherds Lookout. Peter |
