The only thing this has to do with birds is that some birds eat spiders, and many use webs to build their nests.

Out in the fog on Callum Brae this morning, I was intrigued by these freshly woven spider webs, having the appearance of upturned funnels, with the small spiders sitting inside.   Are there any arachnologists out there who can tell me more?
