This morning a few minutes before 8.00 am I heard what I'm pretty sure was a Channel-billed Cuckoo. There were just four of the horrendous screams that make up its call, and it was fairly distant. Didn't hear it again over the next half hour, but there was a fair bit of currawong calling going on (which may of course have no relationship whatever to the suspected CBC).

This was at Kambah, and I think the possible CBC may have been around the western end of the Gleneagles golf course.

Not sure what the earliest record of a Channel-billed Cuckoo is in Canberra but this would have to be fairly early. But I wouldn't think the number of records would be large enough to show any pattern either.

Keep an ear and eye out.
