Hi all,
Seeing as posting photos seem to be the order of
the day, here is a shot of a Fan-tailed Cuckoo taken yesterday at my usual patch
in the middle section of Cooleman Ridge NR. Incidentally, according to my
written records, this is the first time I have recorded Fan-tails at the Ridge.
I'm sure I probably have seen them there before, but there you are. Also the now
obligatory Speckled Warblers, 3 juvenile Yellow-rumped Thornbills, a fledgling
Southern Whiteface etc. There is water in the bottom pond, again, which is nice,
and the frogs are calling once more.
Today, the Native-hens persisted at Kelly's Swamp,
with great views of 3 (posing nicely next to Purple Swamphens for size
comparison). Also 2 Black-winged Stilts and a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (maybe a
young one or a moulting one, because the head and wings were still fairly
rufous-edged. At the Sewage Ponds, great views of Blue-billed Ducks (why didn't
I bring the camera??), lots of Hoary-headed Grebes (as there usually is), a pair
of Whistling Kite etc.
Not a lot, but I thought I might post it
anyway,
Cheers
Tobias
