Hello everyone,
Saw my first SACRED KINGFISHER of the season at Gungahlin Cemetery
on Sunday morning. It was busy doing what it’s name suggests - fishing in
a pond.
There were 5 HOARY-HEADED GREBES present on Franklin Pond
(Gungaderra Creek) and not much else.
On Saturday at Campbell Park breeding records included a
pair of SPECKLED WARBLERS (attending nest) & STRIATED THORNBILLS with
dependent young. Also a SHINING BRONZE-CUCKOO and nice examples of
Cunningham’s Skink and Shingleback.
Over the past few days quite a few TREE MARTINS have been
present hawking over our house in Harrison and the nearby streets.
And as of yesterday the first 3 SUPERB PARROTS flew low over
our place heading for Gooroo. If it is going to be anything like last year I
suspect they will be a daily sighting.
Chris, if you read this, I will be keeping a record of
sightings for Harrison which I can forward to you.
Cheers
