Brief but good views of a bird in Pierces Creek forest this afternoon at 5:30 pm. Same spot as earlier this year.

I have had most luck with finding this species on calm, sunny afternoons just before dusk and today was no exception. Several birds were calling along the ridge running parallel to and above Vanity's Crossing Rd.

I 'squeaked' one into a bush before it dropped down and commenced foraging along the rocky track almost in the open. I had my binos pinned to it for at least 10-15secs.

Cheers

Marnix
