Well, just for the purpose of discussion, I agree about the teal
size, the head/neck and length does look like a Khaki Campbell (Mallard ancestry)
as Paul says, and the bill looks like a shoveler, which is another possible
source of the reddish legs. There could be several species involved with
no intervention of a wild species for 2 or more generations.

PBD x (dom.) Mallard is probably the most logical combo as well (too big for a
teal species to be involved...). Anyone know how serious the mixing of the two
is in the ACT?

shape of head, and colour of legs, I suggest this is a Pacific Black Duck x
Mallard hybrid.

A while back I posted of a possible PBD x Chestnut Teal on sullivans' creak,
ANU. Well today the bird was back and I had my camera with me. =)

parent is, imo, definitely a PBD.
