Rob and others

The most obvious difference is the white wing-bar in the hooded robin.
The jacky winter doesn't have one. Even a perched robin should have
obvious white bits in the dark grey wing.

Another difference is there is less white on the outer tail feathers in
the hooded robin. Pizzey describes the tail as having an hourglass
shape, with the white bits on the sides of the dark tail. The white on
the outer tail feathers of the jacky winter is the full length of the
tail and obvious in flight.

The jacky winter's call is distinctive and easy to pick up (the
"peter-peter-peter" call). Hooded robins are pretty quiet.

Anyone care to add to this?

Cheers
Anthony

Can anyone tell me the main features to distinguish a Jacky Winter from
a female Hooded Robin?

Thanks,
Rob
