I remember seeing at least one bird at Ingalba in company with
Variegated Fairy-wrens on a visit back on 21 October 2001. This was only about
a km in on the first track on the left heading west from Temora. I
haven’t seen them on more recent visits.
I seem to also recall that the Chestnut-rumped Heathwren used to
be found as far west as the Brobenah Hills area near Narranderra and also
records from The Rock reserve?
Cheers

Subject: [canberrabirds] highlights recent trip to Leeton
on my regular quick trip down to Leeton over the weekend
I dropped in briefly at the Ingalba reserve near Temora (which I know some
other COG members visit occasionally). Spent only about 20 mins there,
and apart from lots of dusky woodswallows and some families of variegated fairy
wrens, highlight was a couple of chestnut-rumped heathwrens in full voice, and
got some good looks at them from only a couple of metres. In leeton at
fivebough there were dozens of black-winged stilts, red-necked avocets,
black-fronted dotterels, and the reed warblers were very active - and saw
only a single spotless crake. Sunday near Narrandera airport a flock of
around 100 cockatiels .
