Hi Trish,
SC Cockatoos are known to dig for the bulbs of Onion Grass Romulea sp., an inconspicuous lily like introduced plant with six mauvey-pink petals. It has one or two thin grass like blades to 15cm.  If you keep checking the site where the SCCs were digging for the next couple of months some of the flower should appear.
