On the playing fields of Forrest Primary school
there is often a large flock of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos. Today there
were about 30+. But amongst them were four corellas that had the
colouration of Long-billed Corellas, and sure enough (when they deigned to
remove their bills from the grass roots), I could verify that the bills were
long - except for one which had a bill much more of the length of a Little
Corella. So at least that one, and possibly some or all of the others,
was probably a hybrid, as reported before by Tobias amongst others.
None of them had a bill length as long as depicted in the various field
guides for LBCs. All hybrids?
