It is nice to maybe be the first to mention this for any particular
year, or to confirm or comment on the usual trends.
Although I have nothing to add about this year, I mention that your
observation is right on par, by historical standards (although you did
ask about "the season").
The GBS Report indicates (in graph and text) that the abundance of this
species increases dramatically during August, although it is not zero
during June or July either. Likewise the COG Atlas is similarly clear
that the recording rate ("percentage of cells") of this species shows
the same trend. These two graphs, although measuring quite different
things, are very similar in shape. This is because the species is both
widespread and usually observed singly or in pairs. These references are
the fundamental local source of historical trends As they show data
that has been compiled, analysed and explained.
