David Macbeth had a good lyrebird story for us - on one of the frosty mornings last week he was woken up by the sound of breaking glass - went to see what was going on and saw the resident lyrebird standing on the frozen birdbath breaking up the ice with its beak and tossing the shards overboard with its claws - hence the shattering noise. When the ice was off the bird had a bath in the water - got thoroughly wet but seemed satisfied.
