Westbourne
Woods seen from Warrina Inlet. The Woods, one of the sites of
experimental plantings of exotic trees, are the setting for the manicured
fairways of Royal Canberra Golf Club, and, near the lake, a playground
for large numbers of indigo Swamphens. Yellow-tailed Blacks
frequenty raid the conifers. I am told that ordinary pedestrians may
wander among the birdy-seeking gynecologists and diplomats provided their
purpose is at least incidentally ‘tree study’ – a test that surely qualifies
the average Canberra stroller.
