We have just been to WA. I can recommend the following way to obtain
information about birding in that state, including Perth
I went to Birds Australia WA. Then to Bird Guides WA. Many towns in
WA are listed there as well as Perth. The information can easiluy be
printed off.
One place near to Perth that I do advise visiting is Araluen, a
botanic garden about an hour's drive south of Perth, in 'the hills'.
I think down the Albany H'way and then a turnoff near Kelmscott. (we
went there from Fremantle). We saw variegated wrens, white breasted
and yellow robins (different from those in the eastern states, as are
the western spinebills different from the eastern). On another
occasion we saw the red headed parrot there.
Then there is the white winged blue wren, in the sand dunes just
south of Scarborough. I can give more specific directions if required.
Rottnest is wonderful, with the huge nests of the osprey easily seen.
We went to Cottesloe beach, just as the sun was setting, over the
sea, as it should. Hundreds, maybe even thousands, of the very
unpopular rainbow lorikeets come in to roost there. The noise is
deafening.
If you are wishing to get information about birds in towns in other
states, I suggest that you just go to Birds Australia and then print
in the state that you want
