I went out to the big dam area of Mulligans this morning to track down the Pied Butcherbird reported from the Woodlands Bird Survey last weekend.

It was a lovely day and butcherbirds were very evident.  They were also very active, flying around all over the place.  Unfortunately all the ones I could see - at least 5 - , or calls that were clear, were of the Grey Butcherbird variety.

Incidentally the easiest way of getting to the Big Dam area at the moment is through a gate off Horse Park Drive just to the East of Gundaroo Rd.  However: this involves crossing a storm water drain which could be a challenge a) for low clearance vehicles or b) any vehicle if we ever get some heavy rain!

As a final note, I have never before noted the juxtaposition of the suburbs of Harrison and Ford.  Will the next two in the area be Lara and Croft?
