Our birdbaths must have been getting plenty of use this week, as they needed cleaning and topping up every evening. Amongst the detritus there were numerous small, waxy discs.

Unencumbered by having to go to work this morning, I had the opportunity to observe what has been happening. There are a couple of nearby eucalypts that must currently have a large number of lerps which attract dozens of honeyeaters, mostly Noisy Friarbirds. It's obviously thirsty work as for a couple of hours there is a steady stream of birds drinking at our birdbaths before returning for more lerps. In amongst them there were a couple of Little Friarbirds like this one. A first for our GBS.

Regards,
Leo.
