My immediate reaction was exactly the same
as Beth’s suggestion, specifically a close up of part of a chest feather of a
male Maned Duck. It would be easy to check, I have some samples but I’m not
going to look now. However it may well be something completely different and
without knowing that it is from an Australian bird, that
makes it wide open to many possibilities if it is not Australian.
