Downtown New Your has many opportunities for Pergrine viewing including http://falcons.55water.com/. The webcam doesn't seem to be working at the moment but on checking the News tab might well fire up in the next few weeks (if the owners of 55 Water St have enough funds to maintain it). If people do check the site it is important to remember the local time: the inside of the nest box isn't floodlight and thus nothing can be seen after dark (which is basically 7am to 7pm, Canberra time)! Another pair of Peregrines nest in the Eastern pylons of the Brooklyn Bridge about 2km NE from Water St and yet others in the Riverside Church (but that is a West Side Story and about 10km NW)! True, a female buzzed our block last week but showed no interest in the suspended bizarre algal bio-reactor that doubles as a bird bath. Downtown Minneapolis provides much greater opportunity for observing this dynamic raptor (honestly). |
