Robin et al,

Interesting you should mention artificial tree hollows..... recently I was able to rescue a hollow log from a tree felling.  The log is between 3 and 4 feet long ( I would have to confirm for sure) and about 6 inches or so in internal diameter, hollow throughout but quite solid.  I rescued it as it would have been destroyed and I thought I might be able to use it for birds.  How would I go about utilising a hollow log such as this for birds (or bats)?  It is hollow completely through, with a small hole on one side as well where a branch was obviously once located.  I thought it was far too good to waste.

Any ideas as to how I can utilise it anyone?

Cheers.
