As those who follow Jerry Olsen’s bulletins in CBN will
know, any LE nestings – or new territories – are of great
interest. However at this time of year this pair, if that is what it is,
is unlikely to be breeding. That leaves the question whether it is a
known pair, and which one it might be. Probably the nearest known pair would
be the Fyshwick pair, which nested north of the river this season. That
pair was a pale morph male and a (palish) dark morph female. While
I can’t rule it out, I think it unlikely a new pair has established a
territory in the Red Hill/Mt Mugga area. A few years ago there was
a nest on the north side of Mt Mugga, which was later transferred to the area of
the East O’Malley devpt, that pair apparently leaving the area when it
was cleared for housing. However the wooded areas on Mt Mugga and Isaacs
Ridge (east side) are quite extensive and there are corners with large trees
that are little visited.

I
had an excited phone call from a lady this morning who said that for
the past two mornings she has seen a Little Eagle over Red Hill Reserve.
Can anyone confirm these sighting?
