Sue,

The most obvious difference between junior purple swamphens and juv. spotless crakes are their sizes. Think about the adults. Baby spotless crakes are tiny. Would probably fit on a 20 cent coin.

thanks to all who posted news and directions to this fascinatin spot, hitherto unknown to me; v cute  but sadly rather spoilt, aesthetically,  by litter drfiting through the channels;however i was lucky to have good views of a Spotless and a male Greenfinch sitting atop a Casuarina and chirruping as advertised in f guides + good variety of other birds incl 3 Black Ducklings frolicking + 3 other tiny birds darting thru reeds  which were probably junior purple swamphens (but coulda been juv. spotless crakes) ??? dark with red legs

any clues?
