The lemon tree in our Chapman garden currently is infested with two types of bugs of quite spectacular appearance. I have not seen either type previously. They are not on any other plants in the garden including lime and cumquarts.

1. Oval shaped about 1cm by 0.7cm, beige to bright orange back with a dark spot on the back and dark edges, reddish legs & brown and white spotted antennae.

2. Larger, shield shape and about 1.6cm by 1cm shiny black with orange antennae, and much fatter than 1.

Are these native?

Harmful to the tree? They are very sedentary and don't seem to have done much damage to the foliage, and I am reluctant to use chemical sprays unless absolutely necessary.

Has anyone else seen them?

If anyone would like to see specimens, I could easily collect and deliver them.

Cheers,

Bruce.

PS. I have not been drinking prior to send this email!
