Quite interesting to see Hazel's note: "And
yesterday we had a male King Parrot in our Kambah garden. Only about the
third record here in 16 years". This species must be so patchily distributed in
Canberra. My Kambah house is only 1780 metres from Hazel's Kambah house (with a
lot of open country - mainly the Gleneagles golf course - between us) and yet I
would rarely have a winter day without having the King Parrot at my
GBS site and they are here more weeks in summer than not. Hazel's
house is much closer to the Murrumbidgee river but that doesn't appear to
be an attractor for them. Indeed I have hardly if at all encountered them at
Kambah Pool in many years of strolls there.
