No sign of the crakes today at lunchtime but did get great views of a pair of European Greenfinches.

Cheers

The picture with the Superbs is very nice, espcially with the incubating Crested Pigeon behind them. :-)

Cheers!

Roger,

A great sighting.

I was down there today and got some great photos of the Aus Spotted Crake, and actually sighted the Spotless Crake in it's usual haunt (it was too quick for a photo).

I would believe that the other Crake is a juv. Ballion's. I did go back to Norgrove after seeing your photo but no luck in sighting it.

Also - out at Holt oval saw a juv. Supherb Parrot being feed by the parent,

And - a Dollar bird on the wires along the road at Kelly's swamp.

A great day out...

While looking for a Spotless Crake at Norgrove Park this morning I took the attached picture.

The two birds were very close together for a couple of minutes
but eventually the Australian Crake drove what I suspect to be an immature Baillon's Crake away.

Question : Is this in fact one Australian & one Baillon's,

or might the second bird be an immature Australian ?

The white front is for real, not a trick of the camera and the tail did seem short.

Higher quality images available.
