Another very good source of information is this chatline. When something initeresting turns up it is usually reported here and generally with good enough directions to permit someone with a UBD (or access to Google Maps) to find the location.

I replied to Rob privately but several people asked for the same information, so here it is.

Hi Rob
Visit www.canberrabirds.org.au and click on Maps, forms and lists. There is one bird route brochure which you can download (it does include Jerra wetlands) and maps of other places to go. I am currently writing more bird routes but work keeps on getting in the way. Also look at "Trips" and you may be able to join one of our field trips.
Hope that helps.

Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone who lives in the ACT has any suggestions for places to go birding. I've spent a lot of time at Jerrabomberra Wetlands which has been the source of a couple of new species for me, but surely there must be some other worthwhile places? Tidbinbilla doesn't seem to be much good since the fires and most of the forest close to suburbia seems severely degraded. Anywhere within a day trip (there and back) would be of interest but preferably within a 1 hour drive of Civic.
Thanks in advance, Rob
