Hi everyone,

My quest is over. Martin Butterfield took pity on me and called round to my home to help me identify the call that has been bugging me.

He says it is definitely that of a Red Wattlebird. Congratulations to all those who were able to identify the call based on my feeble attempts to describe it.

I must say however, that on learning that it was, indeed, a Red Wattlebird, Martin & I went to my computer to listen to the three recordings I have of that call. No recording was a good match for what we heard in the wild.

Having solved the riddle, the big question remaining is will I now relax or will another call grab my attention and torment me?

Thanks again.

Graham
