Hi all,
Came back yesterday from a school Year 11 Botany
camp in and around Tathra and Mimosa Rocks NP on the south coast of NSW. Some
birding highlights include a Black-browed Albatross and 3 Arctic Jaegers from a
bit of seabird watching and good numbers of Scarlet Honeyeaters at Mimosa Rocks
NP. There was also a Black-faced Monarch along the Kangarutha walking track.
The main highlight was a pair of Azure Kingfishers
on an arm of the Bega river. We were canoeing at the time, so great views but no
photos. One bird (the smaller) caught a fish and then hung around with the other
bird while we paddled by less than 3 metres away.
