Hi all,
I tried sending an email yesterday morning but there was a problem and
it never got through, but...
On Sunday morning there were 2 Whiskered Terns over pond 1 at 10:45h.
They flew high over Kellys Swamp heading west at about 11:00h, but were
back over pond 1 at 11:15h. Both in breeding plumage, but one more
darkly so than the other. Also lots of swallows and both martins in
about equal numbers.
At Kellys, there was no sign of any, not 2, not 8, not 4, no
Black-winged Stilts at all. And certainly no White-necked Heron (which
is what I was after!). But the 4 Sharpies were at the southern end. Just
goes to show how different things can be over a short space of time.

Thanks Frank, at lunchtime today there were 2 in breeding plumage over
Pond 6, being tossed about in the howling wind, but still managing to
look elegant. 4 ST Sandpipers lurking in the grass at the southern end
of Kellys Swamp and 4 stilts still present.
cheers
Steve

One Whiskered Tern seen this afternoon at the sewage ponds - Pond 1. I
think this is the first one reported this spring.
