The bicycle commute observations for the first full week of Spring in Tuggeranong: swooped by a nesting pair of Masked Lapwing, protecting four eggs on the median island of Athllon Drive, at Cowlishaw Street intersection - this is near the basketball stadium; White-winged Choughs dust-bathing (just like in the video frame pics sent by Geoffrey back in August) a couple of metres from the bike path, near the boat house; and this afternoon, the first calls I've heard this season for the Australian Reed-Warbler, at a couple of locations on the eastern side of the lake. Commuting on a bicycle - better for birdwatching, better for the environment. Win-win.
