No, this is a common mistake locally. Both
subspecies have a yellow rump but the colour varies somewhat. While this looks
very yellow, it is not the same rich colour as the northern subspecies which is
more a “gold” colour. I think the light intensity in this
photograph is a bit on the bright side “amplifying” the yellow
somewhat. The northern race occurs somewhat to the north of Hunter River
in NSW.

But isn't this one of the northern sub-species which has the
yellow rump? Formerly known as Northern Yellow Robin before the
taxonomosts joined them.
