That sure is early. But whether it is very
early depends on semantics (probably is not). See the breeding graph on page
107 of the 21 year GBS Report (most questions already answered). That shows the
frequency of DY observations rise above zero during August, well on the way to
being much higher in September. As this is now late August, we are perfectly on
time for the first DY observations for the year, although the peak is in
November.
