On the weekend there was a flock of 50 silvereyes passing over my house.
Also, the previous weekend there was a flock of 37 silvereyes in my GBS
in Hawker passing through. Both moving fast. Silvereyes seem to be
migrating very late this year.
Also, whereever I have walked this autumn and winter there have been
heaps of yellow faced honeyeaters over-wintering. This is in contrast to
last year when I walked a lot and saw virtually none during winter. I
will be curious to see GBS results after June, compared to the past 4
years for this species. Whether this is post fire recovery, flowering of
Eucalypts in Canberra (quite a lot in flower this year), temperature
(warmer), post/drought, different walking routes, or some other reason,
who knows.
