Hi Everyone,

Last night I spotted a road-killed Boobook owl on Uriarra Road, only20m or so from the junction with Cotter Road. I was very sorry thatit had been killed, but it gave me an opportunity to observe one ofthese magnificent owls at close quarters. It has very fine featheringon short, stocky, powerful legs, and it was smaller in the hand than Irealised. I can now see how closely it resembles the Christmas IslandHawk Owls, which are a close relative.
