Last Thursday while proceeedig through Garema PLace I noticed a lady feeding birds.  I didn't see what she was dealing out, but she had at least 30 Magpies attending her.  (There were also a couple of brave rock Doves wandering through the flock.

This moring our group of 3 residet Magpies took it upon themselves to assault the resident Kookaburra.  I didn't see anything that led to this brawl but they usually ignore one another and coexist in a peaceful way.

Later in the morning I was running in the Half-marathon around West Basin and on getting back to near Sullivan's Creek heard "begging" callls coming from the poplars.  Taking a brief glance towards the Lake I was very surprised to see that a number of the Little Black Cormorant nests still appeared to be occupied.  To check that this was not an hallucination - it was close to the 17km point -  I swung by again while biking to the launch of the "Field Guide to Orchids of the ACT" at ANBG.  As I didn't have my binoculars with me (shime, shime) it was hard to see exactly what was going on, but some of the nests still seemed to have small heads poking out.  Perhaps someone who lives a little closer could check if there are still DY present at this site or if its just indolent young hangnig out at the nest they were raised in.
