Hi Roger,

I'm going to stick my neck out (pun intended) and say that they're
Intermediate Egrets. They don't seem "dumpy" enough for Cattle Egret,
the neck and bill length seem too long in proportion to the head, and
the neck has the sinuous bend of an Intermediate (or Great) Egret.

The Birds in Backyards site has some good information on Cattle Egret:
   http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/finder/display.cfm?id=191

Unfortunately, there isn't a page for Intermediate Egret.
