I was out surveying at Bullocks Paddock Road (F14) and south off it on
Sinclair Crs (F15) this afternoon. Yellow-Faced Honeyeaters: 12 flying
north @ 1249, 3 flying west @ 1431, 11 flying north-west @ 1436, 7
flying north @ 1440 (accompanied by 2 White-naped Honeyeaters; also
White-naped Honeyeaters, 7 flying north-west @ 1420. There were also two
lots of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters one of two, one of about five, which
were feeding rather than migrating.
There were a lot of Red-browed Finches, including one flock of 23 birds.
I suspect that it is a bit like Finch Central - lots of the herbivores
were killed by the fires, the fires also created a flush of annuals
bearing seeds and the finches are doing well out of the combination.
