Went to F 11, 12 and13, and G 12 and 13 this morning to do a bit of
surveying. A light drizzle, mist-shrouded mountains, scent of moist
stringy-barks - beautiful. F11 is on the NSW side along the Mountain
Creek Road and the bit I surveyed was the Tinkers Creek TSR. F12 and F13
are south of F11. G12 is Uriarra Crossing and G13 is to south of the
Crossing.
Most of the summer migrants appear to have gone but there was a bit of
movement by Black-faced Cuckoo-shrikes and Silvereyes. The Yellow-faced
Honeyeaters were feeding rather that moving in a migratory fashion.
There was a single White-throated Gerygone. Of interest - three of the
grids had a Diamond Firetail each; four of the grids had at least one
Nankeen Kestrel. Oddity of the day - a Red-rumped Parrot with some sort
of genetic variation - lutino or partial-albino (if that is possible),
in any case the colour surely made it stand out from the rest of the
flock. No breeding recorded.
