Noel (& Con),
I think you are referring to the Round Flat Fire Trail entrance on the east
slope of the range, accessed off the Michelago-Jerangle/Anembo Rd.
That's also east of Michelago not west and yes there is a sign stating it
is Tinderry Nature Reserve.
Another way into the range is on the Mt Allen Fire Trail accessed off the
dirt road running north-south west of the range - this road runs from
Michelago north to Googong I believe. The gate is locked as well and the
trail meanders for a long way eventually reaching almost the rocky peaks.
This may require some bush-bashing.
There is from memory a third entrance much further north on the same road
as well. Also signposted and with a locked gate.
Cheers

adice on Tinderry Range
Approx 14 kms (give or take a km) west of Michalago - after you have gone
over the range - you come to a gate on the left - I think there is a sign
indicating that this is the Nature Reserve. The gate is locked. There is a
4
wd track heading off north into the Reserve.
