Just back from a weekend down at Long Beach (Bateman's Bay). Not much
opportunity for birding but did spend a half hour each at Cabbage Tree Ck
along Misty Mtn Rd in Monga NP on the way down and in Cullendulla Ck NR on
Sunday morning before heading back to Canberra.
Thanks to Dimitris Berzeletos' recent posting I found a group of SOUTHERN
EMU-WRENS at Cullendulla Ck. I had some of the best views I have
experienced with this species, at one point five birds, including two
males, were perched in full view. All weekend we had MUSK LORIKEETS present
at Long Beach visiting flowering gums. Along the creek in rainforest at
Monga I had at least three separate vocal male ROSE ROBINS within a 100
metre stretch of creekline. Other birds here included WONGA PIGEON,
PILOTBIRD, SUPERB LYREBIRD, BLACK-FACED MONARCH, BROWN GERYGONE, LEADEN
FLYCATCHER & LEWIN'S HONEYEATER.
Cheers
Marnix
