A couple of people have asked about Pejar Dam, and while they asked off
line it's quite likely others are also unfamiliar with it so I'll answer
at large, with an apology for taking things for granted. It's perhaps
25k from Goulburn on the road to Crookwell, and until recently was a
major part of Goulburn's water supply. The picnic area on the right at
the dam wall is well-marked, and while the reservoir is just that, for
some reason it always used to attract large numbers of Great Crested
Grebes - probably the most reliable site for them in the region. Better
birding though is another couple of kms up the road, where a marked road
leads to the headwaters of the reservoir, which has some nice woodland
above it. Certainly worth a visit if you're in the area.
cheers
