I often wander along Mulligans Flat Road when I have a half hour to spare.
This area is only several hundred metres from the northern ACT border. On
the weekend the local pair of DUSKY WOODSWALLOWS had fledged 2 young. They
were already flying around but their parents were still wary. Along the dry
creek a pair of WHITE-WINGED TRILLERS have also been present the past 2
months as well as several TREE MARTINS. On the weekend there were also at
least 2 RUFOUS SONGLARKS madly calling. A male BROWN SONGLARK was still
present in the tall grass in addition to the many AUSTRALIAN PIPITS and
SKYLARKS. No sign of any bushlarks or quail though despite trudging through
much of the high grass.
