Greetings: I did my usual Blitz surveys this weekend at the reserves with a focus on Eastern Mulligans and northern Gooroo.  Notably the total species count is down from the last 2 years, 9 species down from last year, and there were several absentees, viz Jacky Winter, Dusky Woodswallow, Little Friarbird.  Superb Parrot numbers around the reserves are well down from last year.  Lots of White-winged Trillers though, and a substantial number of Red-capped Robins (3 nesting pairs recorded in different spots) a species which seems to be well established in the reserves now.  Hooded Robins in the usual areas, but not as many as previous years and they were elusive at Gooroo.  No Red-backed Kingfishers, but the usual number of Sacreds around. I had been hoping the small flock of Cockatiels recorded on the ANU survey last week might be around, but they failed to show.
cheers
Jenny
