An interesting day so far. The morning started well
with Rainbow Bee-eaters heard flying over while I was hanging out washing,
managed to see one high overhead, it was heading south.
Was then sent to the Ainslie shops, on the way I
walk through Fisher Park, which has a small area with remnant native
grassland vegetation and hosts the endangered, day-flying Golden Sun Moth. A
couple of these were already out, quite early for them, normally they start
appearing in November, although from memory they were flying early last year as
well.
As I staggered back up our driveway with the
shopping I found an Echidna trundling about. With some difficulty I managed to
get it into a box and carried it out the back into Mt Ainslie Nature Reserve.
While doing this I could hear White-browed and/or Masked Woodswallows overhead,
didn't manage to see them, so don't know which species
cheers
