On the 3rd of October i decided to take the day off as
it was my B'Day and lazed around, eventually wandering down to the Hawker ovals
to do some birding. I was counting Eastern rosellas (reached 54) and was
watching some in a seeding foreign weed tree (dont know the foreigns) when I
heard what surely couldnt be a superb parrot!. Sure enough, 5 were there (3
females), then another 5 flew in (3 males), then another 3 males flew in. Then 8
rainbow lorikeets flew in and also ate the seeds, so much for being called
nectivores. There were many other parrots also feeding on these seeds. I
eventually decided to move on and the other side of this oval found 2 immature
superb parrots, a male and female. So 15 superb parrots.
Later the superbs fed on small seeding grasses.
On the Field Nats frog walk on Saturday 7th October, at
5:30pm at the entrance to Mulligans flat, I saw 2 superb
parrots.
