At the Belconnen landfill site this afternoon, while interviewing a bulldozer driver for a story - interesting bloke, drove road trains in outback Queensland before joining the army and driving Leopard tanks - I saw another possible Black Falcon overhead.

I reported what I thought was a Black Falcon over the Parkwood Road horse paddocks the other day. Does anyone know if records reflect that Black Falcons pass through here this time of year? I did a bit of a search, but no luck.

Catman, so called 'cause he drives Caterpillar dozers, proved to be a man of many and varied interests which include birdwatching. He told me that last spring he left the window of the dozer's cab open one Friday evening and, come Monday morning, he disturbed a female Common Blackbird that was building its nest smack-dab on the driver's seat. Unfortunately, but by necessity, the bird-friendly Catman was obliged to clear away the nest before sitting down to his work.
