This morning I undertook an early morning vigil for the Black-tailed Native-hen and observed two birds.

Cheers

Milburn and I headed out to Urriara homestead dam this afternoon to check out the Black-tailed Native-hen reported by Martin today.  Without initial success, we settled in for a long afternoon wait, keeping a close eye on the gate and surrounding mud banks.  Before we knew it, it was running down the bank and spent some time drinking and preening within centimeters of the gate.  When we left it, it had moved to the top of the bank.

On the way back, we found a group of 30+ migrating woodswallows flying south along the Murrumbidgee, which consisted of mostly white-browed with several masked amongst them.

All in all, a very successful afternoon for some!
Cheers,
Damien
