Sunday and Monday this week we had a male Rose Robin in the garden here in Florey. (Seems to have moved on now.) Definitely a first for my GBS chart.
And yesterday I spotted a lone Nankeen Night Heron in the usual stand of Casuarinas on the western shore of Lake Ginn. The other highlight of the lakeside stroll was a P. Currawong attempting (vainly) to persuade a perched Hobby to vacate the area. Eventually the PC gave up, grabbed a nearby twig and went back to its nest-building efforts.
This morning a large (c.50) flock of S-C Cockatoos flew over the house, some of which were engaged in driving off a raptor -- too high up to be certain, but it may have been the same Hobby since the flock was coming from the Lake Ginn. direction.
